The funding is for schools to provide the technology curriculum. To calculate technology staffing for each school or kura, we use the provisional Year 7 and 8 rolls until confirmed rolls are available. Every 120 students get funding for 1 technology teacher.

On Pourato, you can see:

  • technology staffing on your staffing entitlement screen
  • the number of students a school provides technology for on the relationships > technology screen.

How technology class costs are covered

Your school's technology costs are included in your per-pupil operational funding to cover:

  • The capital cost of equipping technology centres.
  • The cost of disposables and consumables provided by the centre.
  • The cost of repairing, replacing and maintaining equipment.

If your students attend technology classes at another school, you need to negotiate a per-pupil fee with the board of the host school. There are no set rates. A rate must be negotiated between the schools and agreed on in a memorandum of understanding.

Changing your school's technology provider

If your school wants to change technology providers, we need to approve first. We will only approve changes that do not come with additional costs to us.

Apply to us by filling in the technology provider change application form. Applications must be submitted to us by the end of Term 2 to come into effect at the start of the following school year.

If we approve the change of technology provider, staffing may be removed from the existing technology provider and allocated to the new provider.

Before this can happen, you need to complete the technology provider memorandum of understanding and send it to us.
