What a bus controller does

Bus controllers are the point of contact for students, parents or caregivers and the school's Transport Delivery Advisor (TDA) for all school transport issues. They also supervise loading and unloading of the bus at their school.

Bus controller for head schools

If multiple schools use one bus route, one school takes responsibility. This is known as the head school. They will appoint the route's head bus controller, who has some extra responsibilities.

Bus controller duties

The duties for all bus controllers are set out in the school transport roles and responsibilities guide.

Online training for bus controllers

Bus controllers must be trained. This can be done online on our education learning management system.

The course is for new and existing bus controllers who have not already done the training. It takes about 40 minutes.

To find the course, log in with your Education Sector Logon (ESL) details, and search 'catalogue' for 'bus'.
